As the global economy is becoming increasingly interdependent, management of global risk including risk associated with environmental issues, food securities, extreme wealth and poverty, global financial system could have major impacts on global economy and global prosperity. Swiss Reinsurance celebrated its 150th Anniversary in Sydney at the Sofitel Hotel and attempted to analyse the above issues and provide thought leadership on themes that are influencing the prosperity of our generation including issues facing the Australian economy. The panel members who were invited to address the above issues were: Ms Karen Chester, a Commissioner of the Australian Productivity Commission, Professor Fariborz Moshirian, the Director of the Institute of Global Finance (IGF) and Chairman of Swiss Re, Mr David Gonski AC.

The panel addressed the challenges of managing global and regional risk with a focus on how Australia can be better equipped to deal with global systemic risks. The diverse panel explored the major questions for Australia and what they consider to be the  number one challenge Australia faces as a country.
