The Institute of Global Finance recently invited Bertrand Badré, the Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of the World Bank to discuss investment in infrastructure projects by major banks, superannuation funds and the private sector following the Sydney G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting.
The forum was held at PwC where many major banks and fund management firms sent senior representatives to this forum. The keynote address was followed by a Q&A session at which Mr Badre clarified a number of major policy issues facing global economy.
As part of G20 Finance Ministers Communiqué, infrastructure investment is an important element of global economic growth in the next five years.
In his address, Mr Badre highlighted the importance of infrastructure to assist increase in productivity and economic growth. He gave a number of examples where investment in infrastructure has transformed the economic environment of millions of people in different parts of the world.
Australian superannuation funds and other fund managers are in a strong position to invest in Asia and contribute to economic activities of this dynamic region.
